This will be our 5th year of hosting and supporting interns. mano-Y-ola takes pride in the opportunities and experiences we offer our interns, in a program that dives into the diverse and inspiring world of agriculture and conservation.
This year mano-Y-ola's Hispanic Farmer Equity Outreach Program is offering two types of internships: a Semi-Virtual Internship (part-time) and a Travel Internship at selected NRCS Offices (full-time).

Online Virtual Internship
$15 an hour
44 hours of work (3-month period)
Cohort #1 - April - June 2022
Cohort #2 - October - December 2022
This internship occurs virtually, meaning the majority of the hours will be completed online through our virtual learning platform, online coaching sessions, and online lectures. Hispanic Farmer Equity Outreach Program interns will be assigned to a coach/mentor from mano-Y-ola’s team, will be required to recruit and work with a farmer(s) to plan a conservation project, and will apply their learning experiences at the end of the internship.
A comprehensive curriculum has been developed for our interns to complete and includes the topics: Conservation in Agriculture, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Professional Development.
We will host two cohorts of interns this year. Please indicate on your application for which cohort you would be available.
Travel Internship at selected NRCS Offices
$15 an hour
40 hours a week (6-week period)
June to August 2022
This internship program will provide bilingual college students with an overview of professional employment with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, specifically with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Farm Services Agency (FSA). The positions are available in the Southeast region of the United States and Puerto Rico. The selected interns will be working under the supervision of conservationists and/or program outreach specialists.
Travel and housing stipends will be provided if applicable.
The applicant must be fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
The applicant must submit a general application form, an up-to-date resume, and a minimum of three academic or professional references.
The applicant must have a minimum 3.0-grade point average.
The applicant must be eligible to work in the U.S.
The applicant must provide a commitment of availability.
The applicant must be currently enrolled in school.
The deadline for applying is March 11, 2022.
After the deadline, our team will review all applications thoroughly and move forward with setting up interviews with selected candidates.
Selected candidates will receive an email from a representative of the selection committee. Applicant selection will be based upon: a) compliance with application requirements and the March 11, 2022, deadline b) the candidate’s level of commitment, and c) phone and in-person interviews.
